LANSING, Mich. — Captain Daryl Green has been in charge of the Lansing Police Department on a temporary basis for just under three weeks.
He's expected to find out Tuesday if he'll become the next permanent police chief.
The Lansing Police Board of Commissioners are scheduled to review Green's recommendation for the job.
Lansing Mayor Andy Schor tapped Green to be Lansing's next police chief.
He took over as acting chief on August 1.
The move followed the retirement of former chief of police Mike Yankowski.
Green joined the police department in 1997.
He became a police captain in 2002.
Green has been working to regain the community's trust in the Lansing Police Department following public outcry over a controversial arrest of a young runaway.
Lansing's Police Board of Commissioners are expected to review Mayor Schor's recommendation before taking action on whether to approve Green as chief.
The review will happen Tuesday at Lansing Police Headquarters starting at 5:30 p.m.
Green could be sworn in as Lansing's next police chief after that.
The public will have another chance to meet acting chief Green later Tuesday.
He'll be at the Alfreda Schmidt Community Center on Wise Road from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Green will also be at a meet and greet event at the Neighborhood Empowerment Center on West Maple Street the same time Thursday night.
