Who are you really punishing?
That was the message at the Michigan Capitol Wednesday from "Citizens for Prison Reform."
The group is calling on lawmakers to create "Family Advisory Boards" in state prisons, that would help support an inmate's family.
Organizers say loved ones need more support, because the state depends on them when prisoners get out.
The group also wants the state to hire a family liason worker, and is calling on the MI Department of Corrections to stop eliminating family visits as a form of punishment.
