A special meeting will be held today in Jackson, with hopes of filling the fifth ward city council seat
Jackson Mayor Derek Dobies and other city council members will meet and interview candidates.
The selection of the new appointed member may happen during the meeting or on another date.
There are 5 people applying for the position.
The meeting is taking place tonight at 6 p.m. at city hall.
The 5th ward seat has been vacant since June 12th, after Andrew Frounfelker resigned after being charged with assaulting his girlfriend.
