Calhoun County man dead, daughter hospitalized in Sunday car accident

One man is dead and his 2-year-old daughter is hospitalized following an early morning car accident in Calhoun County.

It happened around 12:30 a.m. Sunday on 23 Mile Road near L Drive in Eckford Township.

Police say the driver was heading northbound on 23 Mile Road when he failed to make a left curve and crashed into a wooded area.

The man died on scene. His 2-year-old daughter was rescued from the backseat of the car in a car seat.

She was brought to Bronson Hospital and is currently in stable condition.

The driver is identified as a 35-year-old man from Sheridan Township in Calhoun County.

An off duty Calhoun County Detective heard the crash in the area, followed by a baby crying, and called authorities.

Speed may of been a factor in the crash.

The accident remains under investigation.
