BWL to shut off water for some Bath township apartments

Posted

The Lansing Board of Water & Light will be shutting off water to apartment residents in Bath Township Monday (December 5) to make repairs following a water main break.

The repair work will start around midnight, and is expected to take around three hours.

The break occurred off Chandler Road, near Hunsaker and State Road, around 9:30am this morning.

The apartment complexes impacted in the work include the Rocks Apartments, the Landings at Chandler Crossings, the Club at Chandler Crossings, the Village at Chandler Crossings, Block 36, Hunters Ridge Apartments and the Cottages in East Lansing.

The BWL has reached out to the apartment complex’s management companies to alert tenants. If customers have questions, they can contact the water department at 702-6490.

If you live in the listed apartments and you see discolored water you should wait until the repair work is finished, then run cold water at the kitchen sink about the size of a pencil stream until it runs clear, which can take 10-15 minutes. During the time of work, the water is still safe to use even if pressure is low.
