Busy roadway closed in Jackson

Posted

A roadway in a Jackson neighborhood is closed for water main repairs.

West Avenue between Bloomfield Blvd. and Crescent Road on Jackson's southwest side is closed to through traffic from the morning of October 1.

Crews will begin the work of the water main replacement under West Ave., along with pavement resurfacing, on Tuesday, October 2.

Assistant City Engineer Troy White said, "This is part of a larger project to replace old water mains and resurface pothole-ridden streets in the Essex Heights neighborhood." He added, "A lot of this infrastructure is from the 1920s, so it is important to replace parts that no longer work, and provide a continuous backbone of infrastructure through this neighborhood."

The construction is expected to conclude on West Avenue in November.

Drivers can use Fourth Street or Kibby Road as a detour.

And if you live there, you can still get home.
