Jackson business owners voiced their concerns Wednesday about a construction project downtown.
Consumers Energy is planning to upgrade the electric system, closing down part of Pearl Street in the process.
The project was to begin in August but Consumers pushed the date back after business owners said they weren't given enough notice.
Today they say the project needs to get done, but that doesn't make things any easier.
"Its our busiest time of the year, so without having the proper parking and all that, its probably going to be inconvenient for our customers. But its got to be done, we all realize that," Bryan Schupbach of Schupbach's Sporting goods said.
The construction is scheduled to begin this October for six to eight weeks, then picks back up again in the spring. Businesses will remain open during the upgrades.
