Buena Vista Township has found nearly $400,000 in unused grant money.
The Saginaw News reports Buena Vista Township Supervisor Christina Dillard announced at a Tuesday meeting that she found the grant balance. She says the $389,600 Economic Development Initiative Special Project Grant was awarded through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development in 2010.
Dillard says the money was originally for a green space project called The Towne Green Park, but that development was paid for through another grant.
The township has until September to spend the grant money on economic development projects, which Dillard says she'll find from Buena Vista's master plan draft.
According to Dillard, the goal of the township's master plan "was to decrease blight."
