LANSING, Mich. — Governor Whitmer met with Boy Scouts on Wednesday morning to highlight the importance of scouting in Michigan.

At today's event, Michigan scouting and exploring programs provided updates about Boy Scouting in the state as part of their annual "Report to the State" for Governor Whitmer and lawmakers at the State Capitol in Lansing.

"For many of them and their families, the programs and services we offer represent an opportunity to participate on a level playing field where every youth has the chance to lead, succeed, and learn in a safe and inclusive environment," said Don Shepard, Scout Executive and CEO for the Michigan's Crossroads Council, Boy Scouts of America.

In Michigan there are more than 66,000 members ranging in age from kindergarten to 20 years old.
