MASON, Mich. — A 9-year-old Mason boy was hit by a car in early December and had a long road to recovery in the hospital. He finally came home on Thursday.
Not only is he home from the hospital, getting around in a wheelchair while he continues to heal, he also was named sheriff for the day.
The sheriff department drove Brenden home from the hospital, giving him the VIP treatment with lights and sirens.
The Ingham County Sheriff Scott Wriggelsworth said he was proud of Brenden.
"He's been fighting like a champion and we wanted to welcome him home like a champion," he said.
Brenden turned 10 while recovering in the hospital, according to his aunt, Patti Christmas.
