LANSING, Mich. — A conference in Lansing on Tuesday and Wednesday shows off the human body, body art, that is.

The conference hosts about 800 facilities licensed to provide tattoos, piercing and microblading in Michigan.
The conference showcased these artists and their facilities, as well as educated the public on the importance of the law when it comes to getting a tattoo.
For instance, did you know that individual artists are cannot be licensed, so getting a tattoo or microblading in someone's home isn't legal and could lead to health issues down the road?
The event also provided practitioners with up-to-date regulations on body art, rules and best practices.
Attendees will receive the latest information on medical waste regulations, nail salon air standards, permanent cosmetics, hepatitis B and C, autoclave operation, pathogen prevention and body art laws and regulations.
The Body Art Educational Conference is at the Crowne Plaza in Lansing.
The event continues from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. Wednesday.
