Blood needed after severe winter storms hit U.S.

Posted

The American Red Cross is in need of blood.

They are reporting a shortage due to the severe winter storms across the U.S. in March.

Winter weather across the nation caused more than 270 blood drives to have to cancel. The Red Cross says that resulted in over 9,500 uncollected blood and platelet donations in the first two weeks of March.

FOX 47 has posted a list of blood drives in our area over the next few weeks.

Todd Kulman from the Red Cross says that volunteer blood donors from across the country are needed to help ensure lifesaving blood products are available for patients this spring.

Now, you can even make an appointment to donate. You can do it through an app, just download the free Red Cross Blood Donor App, or visit RedCrossBlood.org or call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767).
