LANSING, Mich. — The Spirit of America Blood Drive came to Michigan International Speedway, hosting a unique way to honor and remember those affected by 9/11.

The Spirit of American Blood Drive started on the first anniversary of 9/11 to honor and remember those affected by 9/11.

People who showed up to donate blood got the opportunity to ride the MIS tram around to the "Home of the Brave" exhibit.

The 4,000 square-foot multi-media display features videos, presidential letters and other collections from 9/11.

Donors were also given lunch in the Champions Club, a gift bag, pin and t-shirt to commemorate the day.

To donate blood, you have to be 17 years old (16 years old with parent/guardian consent), weigh at least 112 pounds and pass a health screening. You also must bring a photo ID.
