LANSING, Mich. — Some Lansing residents woke up to water that was discolored Monday morning.
"After I kept flushing the toilet and it still looked like someone went to the bathroom in it, I realized it and checked the kitchen and it was the same," said Yvonne Tyler, Lansing resident.
By the afternoon, the water was mostly back to normal.
"I've been running the water, but it's still cloudy," said Tyler.
The Board of Water and Light confirmed that a water main break early Monday morning led to the discoloration.
They recommend running the water for about 15 to 20 minutes.
The cold weather also caused frozen pipes in the area.
Plumbers say to keep a steady stream of water running to help keep pipes clear.
"Make sure you're getting heat to your pipes. If you have cupboards, open up the cupboards so that heat can get underneath sinks," said Kurt Knisely, manager at The Meridian Company.
