LANSING, Mich. — A plan aimed at banning child marriages in Michigan has been introduced in the Michigan Legislature.
There's a state law on the books from the 1880s that allows kids as young as 14 to get married.
A bill package introduced Wednesday would ban marriage in the state of Michigan for anyone under the age of 18.
Similar legislation was introduced last year, but the session ended before any additional action was taken.
