A bill has been introduced in the Michigan House to change the date of firearm deer hunting season.
Opening day this year is Wednesday, November 15, but under the House bill, the date would change to the Saturday closest to the 15th. The season would still run for 16 days.
The lawmakers who support the bill say if opening day were on the weekend, it would benefits hunters unable to take off work during the week for opening day.
The bill was introduced on September 20 by Representative Gary Howell who is the primary sponsor.
