The Michigan Police Unity Team took to their bikes to honor Lansing police officers who made the ultimate sacrifice.
The Inaugural LPD Memorial Bike Ride is a way to remember officers who died in the line of duty.
FOX 47's Cryss Walker was there for the ride.
Officers from across the state pedaled 25 miles through Lansing.
They made seven stops along the way, dropping blue roses to remember the lives of five officers and two fallen canines.
The brothers and sisters in blue say the memorial bike ride is a special tribute that reminds them of their role in the community.
A role to protect and serve, even if it means their lives.
According to the Michigan Police Unity Team, more than 19,000 officers have been killed in the line of duty throughout the state of Michigan.
