LANSING, Mich. — It's hot outside...and that means playground equipment could be very hot to play on.
FOX 47's Rachel Sweet braved the heat with a heat gun and checked out some of the temps at the playground.
A slide, not a metal slide but a plastic slide, came in at 90.5 degrees with the air registering at 89 degrees.
The steps to the playscape registered at 86 degrees, and a second slide was 85.5 degrees.
It was about 1 p.m. in the afternoon on July 18 when FOX 47 checked out the equipment.
If playing outside is your plan these next couple of days - be sure to wear appropriate shoes and clothes on the playground, and of course protect your skin from dangerous sun rays by wearing sunscreen and stay hydrated!
