EAST LANSING, Mich. — Barrio is the original build-your-own taco joint that started in Tremont, Ohio in 2012. By the end of 2020, the addictive tacos will be available in 11 locations, 4 states, 5 food trucks and 2 taco stands at Progressive Field in downtown Cleveland.
The restaurant features a build-your-own menu where you can customize tacos and bowls from a wide range of freshly prepared toppings and ingredients. If you’re not looking to build your own, trust the chef’s taco suggestions and choose from “El Jefe’s Selecciones” menu (AKA The Chief’s Selections). If you’re looking to try something extra special, Executive Chef, Nico Chesnick, introduces new specials each month that include a guacamole, a queso, a taco, and brunch items. Barrio’s late-night hours allow guests to enjoy tacos, tequila, whiskey, and beer too all night long!
Barrio will be located at 202 Albert St, East Lansing, MI 48823
Aside to painting the Day of the Dead celebration on the walls, Mac is the creator behind the metal structures, chandeliers, and menu caddies on each table.
The paintings at each location come together to form a love story. It begins at the Tremont location of a man and woman who have a child. Throughout all of the locations, the child takes part in the celebration of life. Take note during your next Barrio visit, you can spot a young boy riding on his tricycle at the entrance of the restaurant and then again riding out on his motorcycle. It will be exciting to see Mac’s story continued at the East Lansing location!
We are beyond thrilled to open our new Barrio in such an energetic part of Michigan. We are excited to introduce our build-your-own concept to so many new guests all while welcoming Ohio natives who know and love us!” - Jake Hawley, Owner
