LANSING, Mich. — Automatic voter registration has officially launched in Michigan and online voter registration will be an option after the November 2019 election.
The announcement came from Secretary of State's Jocelyn Benson Tuesday.
The automatic registration ensures that when Michigan residents apply for, or update their driver's license or personal ID cards, they automatically are registered to vote.
The only exceptions are if you are ineligible or chose to opt out at that time.
Michigan is joining 17 other states by enacting automatic voter registration.
