Authorities were trying to identify a milky white substance found in a Genesee County creek.
MLive.com reports that a county hazardous materials team was called out Sunday to Pine Run Creek in Clio, north of Flint.
Firefighters were called to the area about 10 a.m. after someone noticed the substance in the creek.
Clio Area Fire Assistant Chief Kirk Todd said it was forming bubbles atop the water as the substance moved downstream.
Todd said "it appears as though it's like soap" and that crews will know how to assess the substance once they identify it.
