The U.S. Marshals service says a man wanted for a parole violation was shot and wounded in Detroit as authorities tried to arrest him.

Robert Watson of the U.S. Marshals Service tells reporters the man backed into a law enforcement vehicle on Tuesday morning before he was shot.

The man in his 20s was being sought by the Marshals and the Michigan Department of Corrections. He was taken to a hospital and information about his condition wasn't immediately available.

Watson says he was wanted for a parole violation for enticing a child for immoral purposes as well as motor vehicle theft.

The shooting is under investigation.
