Authorities believe a fire at a Jackson group home for mentally disabled adults was set on purpose.
It happened around 9:45 a.m. at Christ Centered Homes on the corner of Washington and Second Street. All eight mentally disabled residents were able to make it out safely.
Authorities say the fire was contained to a second story bedroom, but there is significant smoke and water damage to both floors.
The home is not livable, and firefighters say finding the residents permanent housing could be a challenge. The Red Cross is working to find them a place to stay.
All eight residents were taken to a local church for now. Firefighters say a man may have admitted to starting the fire.
There have been no arrests at this time.
