LANSING, Mich. — A two-car accident closed down a major roadway for most of Thursday, according to Delhi Twp. Fire Chief, Brian Ball.
Aurelius between Wilcox and Harper Roads in Delhi Township will be closed until 6 a.m. Friday.
Ball told NEWS 10 that the accident, which occurred at 9 a.m., resulted in one car crashing into a utility pole.
Consumers Energy crews are on scene and working to replace a utility pole that was damaged in the accident.
Consumers Energy had to cut off power in the area at about 4 p.m. Thursday so that crews can replace the pole.
We are told that they have to replace the pole because it holds electrical equipment and feeds nearby neighborhoods.
Many people are without power due to the incident. You can see the number of outages here.
None of the customers are expected to regain power until crews complete the work, DeDoes said.
"We'll be working through the night to get the pole replaced," DeDoes said.
One woman involved in the accident was taken to Sparrow Hospital and remains in stable condition.
No other injuries were reported.
That stretch of road has been closed since 11 a.m. and drivers should avoid the area.
