At least one person had to be treated for smoke inhalation after a fire broke out in Lansing Wednesday morning.
Firefighters got the call about a reported fire at the Summerplace Townhomes on South Waverly Road on the city's west side just before 1:30 a.m.
The Lansing Fire Department tells FOX 47 the fire started on a stove in the kitchen area in one of the units. Several people living in the building could be seen outside as the building was evacuated.
Firefighters were able to contain the fire to that area, but the unit was filled with smoke, fire officials said.
The Lansing Fire Department says the one person treated for smoke inhalation was treated at the scene and did not need to go the hospital and no one else was hurt.
Investigators believe the fire was caused by careless cooking.
