Winners of the 10th international ArtPrize competition in western Michigan have been announced.

Organizers of the Grand Rapids event say New Jersey-based Le'Andra LeSeur's "brown, carmine, and blue" performance about identity and race won the $200,000 juried grand prize. Chelsea Nix and Mariano Cortez from Indiana won the $200,000 public vote grand prize for "THE STRING PROJECT," a series of photographs about humanity's shared connections.

Eight other entries each won a $12,500 award.

More than 1,260 works are displayed at over 160 venues in this year's ArtPrize, which started last month. Artists from around the world vied for $500,000 in cash prizes. The awards ceremony was held Friday night. ArtPrize wraps up on Sunday.

Following this year, organizers plan to hold the competition every other year instead of annually.
