April snow causes travel issues over the weekend

Winter hasn't loosened its grip on Michigan just yet. Saturday Lansing saw more than 4 inches of snow. On Sunday there was an inch of snow and ice mix.

"In Michigan we're tough but we can only handle it for so long and it's been long enough" said Liz Ezzo.

Even though many Michigan drivers are used to driving in the snow there were still a few accidents.

"People just need to be cautious when they drive out there and it's wet like this and it's slippery like that" said Dionne Gretsinger.

Ingham county sheriff's department and Lansing police both tell FOX 47 News they've been dealing with accidents related to the winter weather. And they all believe it's because drivers are forgetting to slow down.

LPD believe the accident that caused traffic on 127 North off Jolly Road was due to black ice.

Drivers like Dionne Gretsinger says they've been taking their time on the roads, "when you're riding on the freeway people have the tendency to cut each other off without thinking about it or not be as cautious when they're driving" Gretsinger said.

Once the snow stopped it started to rain. Making one driver realize she would much rather have the snow.

"At least it's pretty and I feel a little tougher when it's snow, Ezzo said. "When it's just rain it's like Seattle or something it rains everywhere."

The snow might be pretty but many people would rather have the sunshine back.

"I was wearing shorts last week, I'm back to wearing blue jeans again and I want to stay with the shorts" said Mason Baker.
