SOLON TOWNSHIP, Mich. — Three children and a woman were shot to death in northern Kent County Monday afternoon.
The four bodies were found at a home northeast of Kent City, Sheriff Michelle LaJoye-Young said.
Authorities are working to identify the bodies and haven't confirmed the relationship between the four.
"Very sad. Very, very sad," LaJoye-Young said. "It's been very difficult for our investigators and for the community as well."
The sheriff's department said the children were elementary school-aged and younger.
The victims' names will be released after the autopsies, according to a news story from WOOD.
The sheriff said investigation of the property seems to indicate another crime scene where some of the victims might have been killed. They are unsure as to the location of that second crime scene at this time, according to WOOD.
She said there is no threat to the public and authorities do not believe a shooter is on the loose.
The sheriff's office is requesting submission of surveillance cameras that are pointed at the road to help investigators track traffic around the property.
