LANSING, Mich. — Ingham County Animal Control officers are investigating a case of animal cruelty after a video of a cat getting kicked was shared on social media.

Officers are looking for the suspect seen drop kicking the animal on camera.

The kitten was found dead Wednesday in a dumpster at the Laroy Froh Apartment Complex in Lansing by Animal Control officials following anonymous tips.

Officials believe the incident happened sometime this week and officers are on the hunt to find the person responsible for the violent act.

"We are looking for the public, the community to come together and give us any kind of information that they can regarding the person that's in the video committing this crime, and the person that's possibly recording the video that's heard laughing in the background, any information that can help us convict these individuals and bring justice for the cat," Ingham County Animal Control Officer Michael O'Neil said.

There is a $500 reward to help locate the suspect.

Animal Control said the person responsible can face felony charges.
