Earlier in September, the Ingham County Sheriff’s Office received an usual call. It was a report of a Wallaby being hit by a car.

The incident happened on Sept. 1 near the intersection of Holt and Hagadorn roads, the sheriff’s office reports.

The Dead Animal Recovery Team (DART) was notified, but when they got there the owner had already removed the Wallaby.

A deputy located the owner, and was advised the Wallaby escaped from the home and was subsequently hit by a car. The sheriff’s office reports on their Facebook that this is the leading cause of death for these animals in Australia.

The post also states that this is the most unusual call the DART Team has received to date.
