In response to overwhelming support from residents, businesses and community leaders in Mid-Michigan, American Airlines will offer new, daily, nonstop service from Capital Region International Airport (LAN) in Lansing, Michigan, to Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA). Beginning July 5, the new service provides customers in Mid-Michigan with easy access to one of American’s premier hubs, which offers 250 flights to more than 60 destinations in four countries.

“We look forward to serving Lansing starting this summer and connecting the people of Mid-Michigan to Washington,” said Andrew Nocella, chief marketing officer for American Airlines. “American is grateful for the tremendous support we’ve received from the City of Lansing, the Capital Region Airport Authority and the entire Lansing community, including the more than 1,100 community leaders and residents who submitted letters on our behalf.”

Convenient flight times will connect the state capital with the nation’s capital, offering opportunities for business travelers to start and end their day in Michigan or the District of Columbia. Throughout the application process for this service, business leaders noted how the flights have the potential to stimulate business, grow tourism and ease travel for Lansing and the surrounding area.

"The Capital Region International Airport is excited to welcome American Airlines and the restored nonstop service to Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport,” said Robert Selig, President and CEO for the Capital Region Airport Authority. “Washington is Mid-Michigan's #1 business destination. The American flight schedule departing on the morning and returning in early evening every day will surely be popular with every D.C. traveler in the region."

American’s new service will operate on the following schedule:

Weekdays and Sundays:

Departs LAN at 6:30 a.m.

Arrives at DCA at 8:04 a.m.

Departs DCA at 5:00 p.m.

Arrives at LAN at 6:53 p.m.

In August, American will also launch service between Lansing and Chicago O’Hare International Airport.

Flights to DCA will be operated by a Bombardier CRJ-700 aircraft, featuring Wi-Fi on select aircraft, First Class seats and Main Cabin Extra offered. American is investing $3 billion in the customer experience adding more all-aisle access; fully lie-flat seats; international Wi-Fi; more in-flight entertainment options and power outlets; and improved food and beverage offerings.
