JACKSON, Mich. — From October 1 through December 31, American 1 will match donations up to $1,000 total to seven Salvation Army locations throughout lower Michigan to benefit Rescue Christmas, a Salvation Army initiative launched earlier than planned due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
American 1 Credit Union is using their Donate Local program, where members can donate to the credit union’s selected charity, to benefit The Salvation Army which has been greatly impacted by the pandemic while experiencing an increase in community need. American 1 will match all donations made by members up to $7,000 total, $1,000 for each of the seven Salvation Army locations – including Jackson, Lenawee, Hillsdale, Calhoun, Washtenaw, Monroe, and Wayne Counties.
“The Salvation Army has helped countless community members who have been impacted by the pandemic this year. Because of this, they need more help than normal for their Christmas initiatives. This organization is a good neighbor to so many in our community, and we are intentionally choosing to be good neighbors to The Salvation Army by consistently partnering with them,” said Janelle Merritt, Vice President of Community Partnerships at American 1.
To participate in American 1’s Donate Local program, visit any branch location or donate online at https://give.salvationarmyusa.org/American1CU [give.salvationarmyusa.org].
“We are beginning our Rescue Christmas fundraiser early this year because of the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. Our traditional fundraising efforts are in jeopardy this year due to consumers carrying less cash, more online shopping, unemployment rates, and recent closures of some brick-and-mortar retail stores,” said Jose Tamayo, Corps Office for the Jackson Salvation Army. “We are thankful for the consistent support from our neighbors at American 1 Credit Union.”
Established in 1950, American 1 Credit Union today serves over 57,000 members with 16 branch locations across Jackson, Washtenaw, Hillsdale, Calhoun, Lenawee, and Wayne counties. American 1 is proud to serve the members of their communities by creating financial wellness through personal everyday banking.
