LANSING, Mich. — The State of Michigan is about to go after a very well-known U.S. company over PFAS contamination.

Michigan's Attorney General Dana Nessel says her office is targeting 3M, one of the companies that manufactured that chemical.

Former Governor Rick Snyder wanted the state to sue 3M over Scotchgard, firefighting foam, and other chemicals that may be in Michigan's ground water.

Today Nessel told Fox 47 legal action will happen sooner rather than later.

"We are gonna be pursuing action against 3M and what we're doing right now is we're coordinating these requests for proposals to work with firms that have a lot of expertise and that have filed cases, similar cases, in other states and to be aggressive as possible."

"So yes, you can absolutely expect to see something in regard to litigation against 3M and some of the other chemical manufacturers and you're gonna see it very soon," added Nessel.

The Attorney General did not say which other companies she plans to sue.
