Don't be alarmed if you notice a whole lot of police cars, fire trucks and ambulances at Charlotte High School this morning. A massive training exercise is scheduled for today.

Police from as far west as Grand Rapids and Kalamazoo will be in Eaton County this morning along with the Eaton County Sheriff's Office and Charlotte Police for the drill.

The goal is to train first responders and community members on how to respond if there is an act of violence.

Local law enforcement agencies have ramped up these types of training exercises over the past few months. Authorities say they have to be prepared for the worst.

Dozens of students and staff from Charlotte High School, Maple Valley, and Williamston will be on hand for the training exercise. It begins at 9:30 a.m. Charlotte High School will be closed to the public all day.
