Accuser's attorney talks plea deal

Hearing the word "guilty" is giving Attorney Karen Truszkowski's client some vindication.

Wednesday in an Ingham County courtroom former MSU football players Josh King, Donnie Corley and Demetric Vance pleaded guilty to a seduction charge for an alleged sexual assault in January of last year.

Although the charge holds less weight than the initial criminal sexual conduct allegation Truszkowski says her client is satisfied.

“If they complete their probation they're not gonna have a record, they are not going on the sex offender's registry but they did have to say they were guilty in open court and that is important to my client”, said Truszkowski.

The accuser’s attorney says it was best for her client to agree to the plea deal and avoid going to trial.

“Having a survivor of a sexual assault testify in court is very difficult and can and traumatizes all over and does traumatize them all over again”, explained the counselor.

A trauma, she says her client is choosing not to re-live.

“She’s very strong, she's very articulate, she made that decision, she's satisfied with what happened today”, said Truszkowski.

King, Corley and Vance are scheduled to be sentenced June 6th.

Truskowski says she hopes the judge gives them tough probation requirements.

“That they are under the control of the court. That they are being monitored.

That they do have restrictions. And that they are being watched, very carefully”, said Truszkowski.
