Abused dog in local shelter in need of funding for surgery

Posted

More than half of the money needed for surgery for an abused dog at a shelter in Jackson has been raised.

Surgery for "Sunshine" the 10-month old pit bull mix is set for next month. She arrived at the Jackson County Animal Shelter (JCAS) on March 31. Prior to her arrival, Sunshine suffered trauma to her front legs which the Jackson County Animal Shelter says is likely due to abuse and as a result, she walks bow-legged.

She has lameness in both legs and tries to run and walk as best as she can. Sunshine is in pain and will need surgery on her legs soon. Surgery has been set for June 8, 2017 at the Animal Surgical Center in Flint. The Jackson County Animal Shelter does not have the funds for the procedure and hopes to raise the money. So far, $4,750 of the $6000 goal has been raised. PIxie Animal Welfare Society Rescue (PAWS) hopes to raise the final amount before the scheduled surgery.
