A total of 91 people are without a job after Emergent Biosolutions announces it's eliminating positions.
Emergent Biosolutions in Lansing produces "BioThrax" which is the only FDA-licensed vaccine available for protection against the anthrax infection.
The company's Public Relation's Director tells us the manufacturing of "BioThrax" will now be done in a new building which requires less staff.
Employees were first offered a severance package back in May. The deal included twice the rate of what the company normally offers but only 28 employees opted in for the severance package.
Another 63 employees were notified Tuesday they would have 30 days minimum left with the company.
Emergent Biosolutions is offering transitional services for employees leaving the company including resume writing, interview skills, and working with a contractor to find other employment.
A total of 286 employees will remain at Emergent Biosolutions.
