Six adult refugees graduated from the Global Institute of Lansing on Monday.
One man who fled the civil war in Sudan that killed 2 million people was in disbelief that people volunteered their time to teach him. Legu Joseph Rekpe said, "I don't know how to thank them, I don't have enough words, I don't have enough words to thank them but I always appreciate what they're doing in our lives and I hope God can bless them to do more for the next group to come."
The Global Institute of Lansing is a non-profit that works with Lansing Community College, St. Vincent Catholic Charities and Lutheran Social Services to help refugees settle in Mid-Michigan and get an education.
