54 shelter pets adopted during all-night event

Posted

Dozens of animals found new homes Saturday night during the Ingham County Animal Shelter's all-night adoption event.

By the time the shelter finally stopped adopting pets at 4 a.m. Sunday morning, 54 animals had found new homes, according to the shelter's Facebook account.

Adoption prices were dramatically lowered on Saturday. After midnight, prices dropped even more. Families could adopt a dog for just a dollar plus a $14 dog license fee.

Still, some animals were still in cages when the adoption event wrapped up.

Volunteer Coordinator Ashley Hayes told us Saturday night the shelter would work to place any animals that were not adopted during the event into temporary foster homes for the holidays.
