A $380 million development in Lansing is expected to include two boutique hotels, a medical office building, restaurants and housing.

Joel Ferguson, president of Ferguson Development, says that construction on the Red Cedar Renaissance project is scheduled to begin June 1. Ferguson says it will be "a game changer" for Lansing and nearby East Lansing and "a catalyst for other activities happening."

Plans for the project include 129 town homes and student housing that can accommodate 1,200 people.

Ferguson estimates it could take 1 1/2 -2 years to finish construction. He said he plans to develop parks along the south edge of the development where he can construct ice rinks, bike trails, and a pavilion for outdoor concerts.
