After a 4 hour search, police arrested 3 men suspected of robbing the Case Credit Union in Delta Township Thursday afternoon.
Eaton County Sheriff Tom Reich said the men were caught after they crashed their getaway car while trying to take the US-127 exit off of I-96. Their Chevy Impala went into a wooded area and the suspects fled on foot.
Reich says it was important to locate the men because they posed a threat to people living in that area.
"Well they committed a crime, a bank robbery, number one. Number two is it was a residential area, and it's very potential that these individuals could have made entry to a residence. We were trying to ensure that no harm came to residents in that area," said Reich.
The sheriff says the 3 suspects are all males from the Detroit area. The FBI is investigating to see if they could be connected to other bank robberies.
Their names are expected to be released later today.
