BEAVERTON, Mich. (AP) — A woman and two of her children are being mourned following a fire in a small mid-Michigan community.
The fire burned early Tuesday at the home in the Gladwin County community of Beaverton, about 125 miles (201 kilometers) northwest of Detroit. Beaverton Area Fire Department Chief Matt Fruchey says two people got out of the home but three were still inside as fire crews responded.
Fruchey says the fire's cause was under investigation, but a wood stove may have been a factor.
WJRT-TV reports the dead included a woman and two of her children, while a man who got out had burns and a teenage boy also escaped. Beaverton's police Chief Brad Davis told MLive.com that dental records were expected to be used to confirm the identities of the dead.
