There's good news and bad news for local high schools after the Mackinaw Center for Public Policy released its latest report cards.

The center says its ranking system is more comprehensive because it combines raw test results from last year, with results from previous years.

Here are some area high schools that performed well and some not so well.

Okemos High school was the only one in our area to make the overall top 25 list, which includes specialty high schools.

The center ranks Okemos 18th overall.

As for traditional public high schools, Okemos ranks 2nd, meanwhile East Lansing ranks 16th.

Other area schools didn't fare so well, Lansing Sexton High School came in at the 23rd worst overall in the state.

As for traditional high schools, Sexton ranks 16th worst.

Litchfield High School in HIllsdale County also comes in at 24th worst.
