16-year-old riding bike killed by driver Tuesday night

 A teenager was killed in an accident Tuesday night in Scipio Township.

It happened about 10 p.m. on Mosherville Road near Borden Road in Hillsdale County.

The 16-year-old, Braxton Petrie, was riding his bike when he was struck by a vehicle heading west on Mosherville Road.

The driver, a 20-year-old resident of Jonesville, collided with the bicyclist while heading west on Mosherville Road..

Petrie was taken to Hillsdale Hospital where he later died from injuries sustained from the crash.

Michigan State Police are investigating the accident and say that alcohol is believed to be a factor.

Troopers were assisted at the scene by the Litchfield Fire Department along with Reading Emergency Medical personnel.
