Friday and Saturday, September 15th close to 100 volunteers will join the United Way at the Southern Community Center in Lansing for the Annual Day of Caring.

Capital Area United Way's President & CEO Teresa Kametz says, "Community gardening is a perfect way to help educate people on the importance of food security, while ensuring that those in need have their needs met."

In total, five community gardens will be cleaned up and prepared for the upcoming months in preparation for harvest.

It's expected that close to 7,000 people will benefit from the crops that are harvested from these community gardens.
