CLARENCE TOWNSHIP, Mich. — On Sunday, a vehicle crashed on 28 Mile Road killing one man and hospitalizing another.

The crash happened at about 5:00 p.m. in the area of 28 Mile Road and M Drive North.

When emergency crews arrived at the scene they found a 52-year-old man from Olivet dead.

The Calhoun County Sheriff's Office is reporting that it appeared he died from injuries suffered in the accident.

The driver of the car was a 37-year-old Olivet man who was transported to Henry Ford Hospital with unknown injuries.

The Calhoun County Sheriff's Office also says the preliminary investigation shows that the vehicle was southbound on 28 Mile Road and left the roadway in a curve into the oncoming lane.

The vehicle then left the roadway and it appears the driver attempted to retake the roadway but was unable to regain control of the vehicle.

Finally, the vehicle left the roadway altogether on the opposite side of the road and struck a tree.

At this time the sheriff's office is conducting an investigation and says alcohol and speed are possible factors in this crash.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office at 269-781-0880.
