DeiAmor Verus, author of Talk to God and Michigan State University graduate, has created a campaign involving a simple action - 1 Act of Kindness.

The idea behind 1 Act of Kindness came to Verus as he heard of more mass killings, climbing murder rates, other acts of violence being performed all over the world.

"I thought something needed to be done," Verus said. "99% of the citizens of the world are good people, who love their family and friends, and just want to live and work in peace and harmony. But because 1% of the population is made up of bad people we live in fear..."

1 Act of Kindness challenges people to fight war and terrorism by participating in one act of kindness a week. You can even start with something as simple as saying "hello."

"When you pass a stranger today, or share an elevator, look them in the eye and say "good morning" or "have a great day," said Verus. "You will be amazed at the response you will get... Treat everyone like you would like to be treated."

As more and more people participate, Verus hopes 1 Act of Kindness becomes the next great cultural shift back toward love and that those who favor violent actions get the message too.

"If one person becomes a kinder person to all the people in their life that is plenty," said Verus.

Those that want to join in on the protest against terrorism can also purchase a 1 Act of Kindness wristband for $2 and shirts that say "Ask Me For Help" or "Do You Need a Hug?" All proceeds go to the International Red Cross and Red Crescent.
