1,392 deaths, 23,993 cases of COVID-19 reported in Michigan

LANSING, Mich. — There are now 1,392 COVID-19 deaths and 23,993 confirmed cases in Michigan, the state announced on Saturday.

Cumulative data shows that 433 patients have recovered from the coronavirus (COVID-19) as of Saturday, according to the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services.

"We are not out of the woods yet," Gov. Whitmer tweeted when announcing the deaths.

The state still ranks third behind New York and New Jersey for the most cases and deaths from COVID-19 in the country.

The percentage of deaths by age is below.

0-19 - 0%
20-29 - 1%
30-39 - 2%
40-49 - 5%
50-59 - 11%
60-69 - 21%
70-79 - 28%
80+ - 34%

The average age for deaths is 72.3 yers old with the median age of 73. The age range is 20-107.

On Friday, the Michigan Department of Insurance and Financial Services announce the state agreed with nearly all of the state's health insurance company to waive cost-sharing, including copays, deductibles and coninsurance, for COVID-19 testing and treatment.
