'Meow Luau' adoption special all this week

Posted

Ingham County Animal Control and Shelter will be hosting an all-cat adoption event the week of July 16th through the 22nd. Due to the high number of cats at the shelter, and those waiting to return from foster homes, the shelter is at full capacity and wants to encourage adoptions by running a special. All this week, adoption fees will be discounted to $20 for kittens 6 months and younger, and $10 for cats over 6 months. The shelter hours are Monday 11-4pm, Tuesday 12-6pm, Wednesday 12-7pm, and Thursday - Sunday 11-4pm. Adoptions end 30 minutes prior to closing, and please bring landlord approval or lease agreement if applicable. All cats have been spayed or neutered, age appropriate vaccinations, and have been microchipped.

With the help of Corr Commercial, there will be an additional adoption location at the Frandor Shopping Center (410 Frandor Ave) facilitated by shelter volunteers. A large selection of adoptable cats will be at the Frandor location along with those at the shelter. Volunteers will be doing adoptions Saturday 12-6pm and Sunday 12-3pm at this additional location. If you are unable to adopt at this time, please consider donating to the shelter. Donations can go towards food, medical care, sponsoring adoptions, or other shelter needs.

“These adoptions specials are so important for the shelter” says Outreach Manager Kate Turner. “During the summer months cats and kittens are coming into the shelter almost hourly, and having an outlet for getting these cats into new homes is vital.” In 2017 ICACS held two separate weekend only adoption specials at the Frandor Shopping Center, each one accomplishing around 30 adoptions. Kate Turner went on to say “We really hope to double those numbers this year, since we will be running the special all week at the shelter as well. We want to make sure every cat has a chance at a new home.”

All adoptions are subject to normal approval procedures and restrictions including an adoption application, interview, and proof of landlord permission for renters. All pets are available on a first come, first served basis and all pets adopted from the Ingham County Animal Shelter are spayed or neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. Reduced fee adoptions are made possible through the generous donations of pet loving citizens of Ingham County.
