The day after Thanksgiving is widely known as Black Friday, a day for bargain shoppers to hit the stores to score deals.

However for others, it's a busy work day.

We're talking about plumbers.

It's not called "brown Friday" because of plumbing issues at the toilet, but rather because of issues generally at the kitchen sink.

After a large Thanksgiving dinner, many food items find their way going down drains and disposals that should not be, which is what we should try to avoid.

Plumbers tell us they've been called out for turkey bones, the turkey meat itself, potatoes and grease clogs.

Plumbers advise people to throw all solids and oils away and never to use a toilet to dispose of scraps that don't fit down the drain.

Grease and oils should never be rinsed down a drain regardless of the temperature of the water.

The biggest recommendation is to try and catch any debris before it goes down the sink rain.

Mike Anson, the residential service manager with Goyette service says, "The easiest way to stop your drains from getting clogged is to use a strainer in your sinks. That way when all your guests are doing the polite thing and rinsing their plates afterwards, that strainer will catch everything and then you can remove it and dump it in the garbage as opposed to just letting all that stuff go down your drains."

This is a good way experts say to avoid a big headache and a big bill.
